Production is the decisive function in a company In which, necessary resources (material, manpower, machines, information, energy,…) are transformed into higher value products and services. This must be done as efficiently as possible, in a target-oriented manner, quickly, in accordance with customer requirements and in a high quality. Therefore, the way production is organized is crucial for the competitiveness of companies.

It is the goal and task of Production Management (or Operations Management) to effectively plan and regulate the transformation processes in industrial and service companies. Production Management is responsible for decision-making in operations, so that products and services are produced in accordance with the qualitative and quantitative specifications with minimum cost.

The task of Production Management includes:

1. The development of production processes, including facility design, job design, material flow design etc. for transforming the input factors into output of goods and services.

      2. The determination and optimization of production quantities in accordance with available capacities.

      3. The specification and procurement of input resources as well as an inventory management to ensure their availability.

      4. The planning and allocation of capacities; scheduling process.

      5. Supervision and control.

In our modules, you will:

1. Learn the basic and advanced methods as well as the concepts of production management.

2. Apply these theories in solving practical problems in given case studies.

3. Have a chance to hand – on supportive software tools to solve the real problem in your industry.

The content taught is based on a comprehensive framework of value creation:

Our learning modules are divided into three levels:

1. Fundamentals:

As a foundation, an
understanding of how products and services are generated, which functions and
processes are necessary for this, how services and processes can be described
and evaluated, and what ultimately determines the success of companies is first
necessary. You will learn the basics of service creation (products and
services), basic goals and key figures as well as established methods of
describing and analyzing products, materials and processes as well as planning
material and capacity requirements.

Content:

Operations and Operations Management, the value chain.

       Competitiveness criteria and competitiveness strategies.

Basics of process management: identification, mapping, modelling, evaluation, improvement.

       Material analysis techniques.

       Product structures and demand planning.

       Inventory management.

       Time and capacity planning methods.

       Basics of quality management.

Principles and strategies for sustainability in production.

2. Intermediate

At this level, the fundamentals are underpinned with advanced concepts and methods. Participants learn to solve practical problems using numerical and other analysing methods as well as appropriate software tools. Special emphasis is placed on the planning and controlling of processes.

Content:

       KPIs and KPI systems.

       Operations strategy decisions.

       Advanced process modelling techniques.

       Inventory management.

       Production control model and methods.

       Quality management techniques.

Modelling/ evaluation and improvement of resource efficiency.

3. Advanced

The aim of this level is to develop a holistic understanding of production systems and processes as well as the participant practical problem-solving skill. Complex issues in production system and process design as well as digitalization processes are addressed in a project-based manner. Insights from practice and networking with experts from industry complement this overarching approach.
